SAFE FAMILIES

“Helping Families in Crisis Stay Together”

Safe Families is a national program supporting families experiencing crisis by being a community to come alongside. At Northside, we reach out to families in crisis right here in Newberg. The intent is to step in and provide the support needed to allow the family to find their way out of crisis and keep their children out of the foster care system. Host homes provide a temporary, safe place for children to stay while other volunteers offer tools and support to the parents.

Whether you like working with adults or working with children; whether you have lots of time to volunteer, or just a few minutes a week, or no time at all to give; whether you want to be hands on or support behind the scenes, there is a way for you to extend Jesus’ love by helping Newberg families in crisis.

HOST FAMILY: Host a Child

A household willing to take in the assisted family’s children, allowing time to address their crisis.

RESPITE FAMILY: Support a Host Family

Household or individual willing to give the assisted family and/or the host family a break by caring for the children (2-72 hours).

FAMILY COACH: Coach a Mom or Dad

An individual who walks alongside the Assisted Family to provide support and guidance. Family Coach helps Assisted Family set and reach goals, acts as a liaison between the Assisted Family and the Host Family, and connects the Assisted Family with needed resources.

FAMILY FRIENDS: Hands on Support

Be a friend by giving hands on support (rides to appointments, mentoring, doing laundry, providing a meal, etc.)

Those willing to provide hands-on, practical support to the Assisted Family and/or the Host Family.

PRAYER TEAM: Pray, Seek, Listen

Individuals willing to seek the Trinity to hear what God, Jesus and Holy Spirit expect for the Assisted Families and all those who are supporting them in order to provide an intentional, consistent, covering over the Safe Families ministry.

RESOURCE FRIENDS: Tangible Goods

Be a friend by providing resources (food, furniture, money, etc.)

Those willing to provide tangible goods and services to the Assisted Family and/or the Host Family contact the church office.
