Elders

The Elders operate under the direction of the Lead Pastor. Someone must "steer the ship" and take the final responsibility for the direction of the church. The Lead Pastor will work closely with the Elders, and wisdom says he will lead with their full support and unity. All of the leadership teams are committed to unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (See Ephesians 4:3)

Though the Elders will have many active duties, the Lead Pastor will be leaning heavily on the Elders for:

Hearing from God (vision casting)

Their help as spiritual guides of the church

To help feed (through teaching and care) the church community

Praying for the sick

Helping oversee the ministries of the church

Discerning, equipping and releasing people into ministry

Create and review policy in terms of church belief and biblical interpretation

Conflict resolution, discipline and restoration

Review and pray over strategic plans created by other leadership teams

The Elders are mandated to hold the Lead Pastor accountable for failure of ethics, morality or doctrine and must actively confront, should a problem arise in these areas.

The Lead Pastor will receive open counsel and even rebuke from the Elders.
